I recently acquired a 2001 15 hp J15RVSIC outboard. I have a few questions foroutboard GODS.
1. Is there a way to convert this engine to an electric start? If so can you guys help me out with a parts list?
2. Any way to add a regulator / rectifier to charge a battery? I assume I would need a lighting coil to supply an AC to the recifier. Again parts list would be greatly appreciated.

There appears to be some spots to bolt on (see pic)
Thanks

I think you bought the wrong motor for your wants and needs. Sell it and start over with some money in your jeans.

Best , as in most economical way is to keep your eyes out for a donor motor.----1993 and newer model 9.9 and 15 HP 2 strokes.-----It also depends on whether you want tiller electric start or going to a remote electric start set--up.-----E-bay might help out here.

I just did this same conversion this weekend. Took me about 2 hours. Found all parts on eBay for $275. With a bunch of stuff I didn’t need, since mine is a tiller and parts are for remote. Flywheel, starter, solenoid, magneto with lighting coil and a push button. That’s it. If you don’t want it to charge then just flywheel and starter and solenoid. I didn’t put in electric choke or primer. No need
