I have a 2001 johnson 90 hp. I have found the trim harness, purple--I terminal, black ---Ground terminal, and white with tan tracer----Signal terminal. This is a brand new gauge and has been checked by jumping Ground terminal to Signal terminal and it goes to full up as it's supposed to. Now the problem is that when all wires are hooked up to their respective terminals the gauge shows full down when the switch is turned on. It stays in the full down position no matter what the motor position is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the trim gauge is the most usless guage on the boat even when it's working. Most here will just say who cares.....

Usually the trim sender is the part that fails. You can jump it out under the engine hood and see if the guage responds. If so guage is good and sender is the problem.

I am often called anal and I insist that everything works perfectly at all times. I've replaced the senders on both of my engines... The gauges work perfectly but trim is still set by "feel" and other than watching the needles move there pretty much useless. I just feel like if I dont keep up on everything eventually nothing will work :)

Happy boating!!

The trim gauge is only for the trim range, which is only about 15?.
