2001 Merc 9.9 4 stroke float stuck

Hey all, I have a 2001 Merc 9.9 4 stroke
Ser#OT544718

My float is stuck and my cup runith over, so to speak! The carb was leaking from the top overflow a few months ago so I opened it up and discovered that the float would not rise to shut off the fuel coming into the bowl. I disassembled and cleaned it thoroughly and it ran perfect while in the driveway. First time out yesterday (3 months later) and it did the same thing. I believe I need to replace some parts or do something because cleaning isn’t working.

Is it time for a rebuild? If so, what parts should I replace?

Be sure that you polish the pin that the float pivots on. As long as the float doesn't have fuel inside of it it should be OK.
