Hey mechanics, got a problem here. Started my motor for the first time this year and it started pouring oil from the exhaust and won't idle. I replaced the plugs, fuel filter and drained all the gas and put fresh gas in it with a new primer bulb. Compression is about 125, 125, 116, 125. I also drained and refilled the lower unit which had about half a quart in it so I'm pretty positive the oil isn't coming from the lower unit. I'm thinking the oil pump is dumping way too much oil into the fuel system. I adjusted the linkage at the oil pump to line up the lines on the pump. Its still smoking pretty bad and dies at idle but not near as bad as the photos, that was when I first ran it.
Someone suggested to plug the oil line and just mix my own gas because the oil pump is failing. Can I do this? Everything I've read says to remove the whole system.

Have you done any testing or just guessing? Are you sure it is just not flooding out?

Those motors have an interesting fuel system because of the 2+2 operation. Maybe get a factory manual to work on your motor. Those oil pumps generally don't fail.

I downloaded the service manual for it and it didn't help at all. It just shows how to replace the pump.
