2001 Mercury 2.5hp 2 Stroke or 2006 Suzuki 2.5hp 4 Stroke?

I recently purchased a couple different 2.5 HP outboards.

2001 Mercury 2.5hp 2 Stroke and a 2006 Suzuki 2.5hp 4 Stroke.

I want it mainly for my inflatable tender but may use it as a back up/kicker for my 19' center console. Which would you go with? My main motor matches the Mercury 2.5 HP perfectly as it is a 99 XR6 150. The Suzuki on the other hand has neutral and forward gears as well as the throttle on the tiller. Wanting more thrust for my application, I did notice the Suzuki has a larger prop with a lower pitch then the Mercury as well as a lower gear ration. Being a 2 stroke I assume the Mercury is faster because of the pitch of the prop but maybe will lack a little lower RPM thrust based on the gears and prop size. Any advice or info on either of these would be great. I own both of them but have not had time to try either. Thanks for everyone's time!

A 2.5 is going to be pretty worthless as a kicker on a 19' boat. I doubt it will be stronger than the wind. I wouldn't bother with less than an 8. MAYBE a 5 but I doubt it

I prefer the mercury! It will have more over all power then the other motor but it was no neutral. I all so like the was the throttle is set up making it easier to use as a kicker. Jest my 2 cents

I bought the motor for my dinghy, I just happen to have the kicker bracket on my boat so it is stored there. I do not troll so really I would only use it to stay off the rocks in an emergency. I do have Boat US Vessel Assist, that is my real back up.

The Mercury is a more powerful model in this case and is more likely to start on a day to day basis. The Suzuki is not manufactured in Japan like most Suzuki's and lacks the reliability that most Suzuki's enjoy.
