Engine starts first thing. Fails to restart sometimes throughout the day. After a while it has always re-started. It may fail two or three times throughout the day. The gasoline filter container on the side will be very low when the engine wont start. What would be responsible for the gas starving sometimes and sometimes not? It runs fine when it runs. Thanks.

Thanks 99yam40. It is a friends motor. The only thing I know that has been done is the fuel pump diaphrams have been changed and that didn't help. Your article is helpful for a starting place but we have no guages nor knowledge to use them. A vacuum leak makes sense to me after reading it. A faulty fuel pump would either pump or not pump wouldn't it? Anyways, thanks for your reply. We will look at air leaks for starters............

I have seen fuel pumps pump at different levels..replace any bad fuel lines..pay close attention to the connections, try a brand new fuel bulb hose and connectors if possible.

Does it help to pump the primer bulb when it will not start? if so it maybe the anti siphon valve is letting the fuel drain back into the tank
