I would love to hear from anybody who owns or is knowledgeable on this boat.I went to look at one today, it was a 2001 with the 5.7 EFI Bravo 3.My guess is I could buy one new for around 65000.What do you think its worth assuming the survey came out clean? Also how does it stack up against the Chapparrel or thr Rinker 270?

Re: 2001 Searay 260 sundancer

we had a 1998 sundancer 250 which evolved into the 260 in 2000 i believe. we had a merc 5.7 efi 260 hp w/bravo 3 which was a good boat for us. it listed for 70k with options, the most expensive of which (other than the engine upgrade) was camper canvas. we paid 48k at the end of the model year (in mid-July, 1998). it is now worth approx low 30's privately, less on trade-in, more from a dealer.
the value of a 2001 like any other used boat is whatever someone else is willing to pay for it. we had no probems with the boat and found the power adequate, including wakeboarding and kneeboarding, but never skied with it.
we used it only in fresh water and had no problems with the bravo 3 with corrosion, but i would be reluctant to use it in salt water.
drive the boat and see if you like it. good luck.

Re: 2001 Searay 260 sundancer

I can't say I have owned a Searay but have friend that do when we went looking for a Cabin Cruiser we looked at Searay first and found them to way over priced. We ended up buying a Mariah which came with all of the options for about 25K less than the Searay However Mariah is out of the Boating game now. But I have a couple of dock Mates that have the 4Winns boats and are very happy with them. But if you can find a good Mariah Dealer that is sitting on a few of these Z260 or Z268 models take a look. They are needing to unload them and challanger boats purchased all of the molds for the line and are making the same exact boats so parts are available. Most dealers will honor the first years warranty on the Mariahs.

Just my two cents
