I have an ongoing starting issue with my 2001 225 yamaha outboard.I have posted this problem before, since replaced my 3 fuel pumps and seemed ok for a few trips starting to act up again! Motor ALWAYS starts up initionally, but after shutting it off, it will turn over fine but will not start. This will not happen all the time, sometimes first restart sometimes fourth or fifth you never know. Then if left to sit for at least 15 minutes (no less) it will start SO FAR! I heard from my Yamaha dealer to listen for fuel pump buzz with key on.It seems as though sometimes you hear it sometimes not, it started today and I don't believe I heard it come on. My dealer says if it's not doing it at their shop they can't diagnose the problem.Of course it will never do it for them or on trailer. They recently had a similer issue with another 225 Yamaha. They said something about the fuel relay switch? Or fuel pump relay.I was just hoping someone may have delt with this same issue, I simply can't afford the process of elimination.Thank you for any help you can offer,73makocenter

simply check the voltage then the current draw or check fuel pressure when it occurs.
I dont think that engine has a fuel pump relay. best I recall all red/yellow wire voltage comes from the main relay.
checking the fuel pressure is dirt simple, quick and easy.
simply at key on power you have it or not.
