2001 Yukon sticky gas pedal

A friend of mine has a Yukon and on occasions the gas pedal is sticking,I have not been over to take a look at it yet(he just called and asked me about it) has anyone out there had or fixed this problem? Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,
Comparing to our old 98 Jimmy but ours was a little sticky a couple of summers ago. A squirt of WD-40 at the cable connections under the hood and all was well again. Put a little oil on after the WD-40 had mostly evaporated away. Been great ever since.

Tell your friend to get a can of carb/choke cleaner any brand will do. first remove the air tube from the box to the throttle body after the air tube is removed you can work the throttle cable from the side of the throttle body and see the butterfly open and close, spray the carb cleaner on the butterfly and the outside of the throttle body to remove the carbon deposits this is causing the sticky pedal. all the Carb/choke cleaner will dry super fast unlike wd40 which is flammable and could cause a fire if its not cleaned off.

MD746 is exactly right. Get a can of throttle body cleaner and do exactly as he says. Dont be sparing with cleaner either. Spray it like you stole it !

Agree with the throttle body cleaner for the internals. The WD-40 is for the linkages. That is what the issue was with mine.
