2002 200hpEvinrude 2 stroke

I am thinking about buying a 2002 24 foot Wellcraft which really looks nice. The only thing holding me back is the 2002 (Ficht?) 200 hp Evinrude 2 stroke with as of last October 226 hours on it and has good compression. This is probably made by Bombardier, but my worry is the ficht thing and older electronics. What say you about these engines?

Most places will not work on anything 20 years old.

Lots and lots of issues with the Ficht line of Evinrudes .I would have to be buying the boat at a price low enough to replace the motor with similar age NON Ficht motor. With no Evinrude dealers I assume parts are going to more difficult to come by. Contrary to what DeepCmark stated, there are plenty of shops that prefer working on 20 year old motors as the repairs are easily performed by a tech with older motor experience and plenty of repairs and pm a diy can do. What say you about these engines?

Having owned a FICHT, from 1998-2002, and even though most of the Troubles were in the 150-175hp Motors. I would say pass on it.
