2002 Johnson 150 alarm when hits waves?

Every time I hit small waves or large ones The alarm beeps. Does anyone know why it is doing this? It is not low 2 stroke oil in the tank as I have topped it off and it still does it. It drives me crazy!!!

It could be the system check gauge or tach itself or in the wiring harness. If you a bad spot in the wiring somewhere the sensor wires could be shorting out when you hit a wave causing the alarm to sound.

There is no system check gauge.I dont know where to start to look?

Do you have the warning lights in the tach?

Does it have the same beep when you first turn on the key? If so, check the connection the purple wire (ign accessory) makes to the ign switch. A bad connection there will send the motor thru the warning system self check.

No warning light in dash. It's a kinda
different beep then when first starts. Only happens with some waves..

Check all the tan wires for being loose or grounded somewhere.

does the alarms just "beep" once.....or does the alarm "go off"...ie sound for a period of time in a certain pattern( or is continuous for a certain time frame) bob

I will check all tan wires when I get down to the boat. The one thing I did notice is a get a little shock when I touch the trim and steering wheel at the same time.This only happens here and there.

The alarm will just beep when you hit a wave.Sometimes it will be a half beep on some some waves.. Its very strange.

You have to check your wires. If you are getting shocked while holding the steering wheel and trimming the outboard you have a bad ground and possibly other bad wires. Check to make sure all connections are tight and corrosion free under the engine cowl and under your console and at the controls.
