Hi All

Friend has the above motor. Starts fine. Idles fine. Give it WOT takes off to 5500 then begins to sputter and goes down to around 5000 rpm and continues to run shaky. Now if someone reaches back and pumps the bulb while this is going on, the motor will take off and run fine at 5500 until the fuel pressure in the line goes back down. Then goes back down to 5000 rpm. Seems like a fuel restiction problem to me but would like someone who's had the same problem or knows of this problem to give me some idea where to start to look to fix this. Took in to dealer several times but they didn't fix it. They replaced the carbs with no difference. Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of things:

1. Check for air leaks at all fuel line fittings and the lines themselves.

2. Borrow a 6 gallon tank with lines and connectors & try. If it solves the problem try it again with the old fuel line. This will isolate the problem to either the line or the tank/pick-up.

3. Check any fuel filters for crud.

4. Check or rebuild the fuel pump.
