Kell;

I'm sure you have checked but from the service manual I sent you the other day, in the Lower Unit section, Right Hand, Page 6A-13 or Left Hand, Page 6B-14, you will clearly see where the fill/drain plug is. I am not sure of your experience but the plug you see identified as the Fill plug is also the Drain Plug.

You don't give any info on model serial# etc.
It could be under the prop in the bearing carrier.Mercury Outboard Parts 200 PRO XS (DFI) 3.0L 1B504989 & Up Boats.net Jerry

It's an EFI as you will see from his previous posts.

The only unit that would have drain in the carrier is the torquemaster case and these where only on the Hi-po motors. I have seen people JB weld over the screw if the threads where slighlty stripped but you could seen outline of where it was filled in.

Kell;

Please let us know the next time you get a chance to look at the engine.

If there isn't one there for whatever reason, a good machine shop in your area could install one for you and when the lower unit is disassembled, you would be able to have a good look inside to see if you can find where someone has filled it in.

I presume that the engine has had a previous owner, has he not been able to tell you what happened?
