Re: 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Cylinder/valves issue

This is no longer a cylinder/valve issue. The motor is back in and I have great compression in all cylinders. I left the timing belt cover off, the ac/ps and water pump/alternator belts off to just start the car for a few seconds to check for vibration (making sure the balancer is correct) just before I had to stop to get ready to work. I cranked it probably a good 5 or 6 times (3 seconds each crank) and it will turn but not start. I got close to the motor to see if I have some cable missing of connected wrong but I could not see any and the manufacturer did a great job cutting cables short to keep them from being connected to the wrong place. I traced the injectors and the coils cables to be sure they are where they belong and at a glance they seem to be right. When I was checking the injectors I got a faint smell of gas but nothing real strong and looked at the fuel pressure regulator and it was not leaking. I had no time to do much other testing. I dont remember the book said anything special about how to get the car started after an engine overhaul.
As I said, it should all be timed properly, all the injectors and spark plugs associated cables/connections should be connected properly, even the air filter is connected but no start. Any ideas? If not I will just run down and test for gas, spark and sync tomorrow but just checking so see if there is something else I might have to try.
Thanks.

Never mind, found the problem. The crankcase sensor cable was off. It ran fine. No vibrations.

I'm glad it all worked out for you. Just remember a lot of us are here to help. I've read some of your posts and completly understand the need to do stuff as cheap as possible. With multiple layoffs, teenage kids, mortgage ect it takes its toll at times on me. I come here to save myself money on repairs and hopefully help someone else do the same. But there are some things that corners cannot be cut on because they end up costing you more and that is what we are trying to help you avoid.'

Good luck and god bless and glad it all worked out for you.
