Backyard mechanic rebuilt it, I doubt there is a warrenty and don't want to give this guy any more money. I was breaking in the engine after it was rebuilt. About 2 hours into the break-in, running about 2000rpm, I heard a clank and then lots of clanking like a tin can was rolling around inside the engine then it seized. I don't know if a piston broke, or a valve fell into the cylinder. Before the rebuild....I took it to the shop to have it inspected when I heard a fast rattling sound when running at 5000rpm. When I got the boat back and put it in the water, I heard the rattle again. It only rattled when the boat was in gear, it wouldn't do it while idleing. After running it about an hour at 1200rpm, the rattling stoped and it sounded normal. After a couple hours and running it at 2000rpm, the rattling came back and then the clank. I got a tow back to the ramp and now the boat sits in my driveway...Instead of getting a loan and buying a new Yamaha I thought I'd tear it down, check the valves and cyclinders and repair it myslef.
