I'm setting up my new 225Opti w/Smartcraft on a Triton that does NOT have smartcraft gauges. Starts and runs fine(in shop)- but the Tach and Trim guage do not work.

I read in the manual about unplugging the speedo tube from the sensor to hook up to the regular speedo - but no mention of tach or trim gauges.

Anybody run into this yet ?

This is a digital motor and requires smart craft gauges. Pick up a brochure and check it out. The combinations are staggering. How much do you want to spend? The gauges are expensive, but so is that motor you bought. Your warning system also is not going to function either without at least a system monitor. The first one of these I got into was quite a learning process.

Shouldnt you be using 'System Craft' guages on a '03 motor?

Digital Optimax engines are not "required" to use SmartCraft guages. Only digital Optis MAY use them. If you have a analog Optimax, you must only buy a specific wiring kit and then you CAN use SmartCraft guages.

The one and only Opti that I rigged had all new Merc controls and harnesses. The harness had connections for both type of gauges.
