I have a 2003 60hp mercury efi non bigfoot. I have changed the water pump, the flush pipe and grommet, all the fuel hoses and the fuel filter and the waterseperator. Had the vst cleaned and have changed out the tanks to see if it was one tank or another. I pump the ball when I start it and it runs fine. Sometimes when I reduce the throttle or stop and try to take off again, it just won't get up and go. I go and pump the ball and it picks up and goes. Sometimes for hours and hours then out of the blue it does it again. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do or try??

I would guess that a bad fuel pump could be the problem. You don't mention rebuilding it as one of the things you have tried so far. I you are looking for troubleshooting advice, I would advise that you use a vacuum gauge to test the fuel delivery system. Testing is often more effective that repairing/replacing parts on a hunch. The below links describe a pretty good way to test the fuel system. Good luck.

I haven't had the fuel pump rebuilt or replaced. I will run the checks recommended today or as soon as I have the time. I had ask my local Mercury repair shop about the service bulletins and he said he just had to get around to finding them. Thanks.
