bought this boat and motor setup a month ago, guy said motor was a beast and had from new said it had only one glitch when they would idle out of the river for a long period of time at 1500 rpm they would get and overheat light and alarm. I havent had this problem running at 4200 rpm no problems, unitll tonight was pretty rough so I had the motor trimmed down and running at 3000rpm for about 10 minutes and then boom on comes the alarm and overheat light, motor smelled? Put it in nuetral and alarm went off but light was still on, engaged into gear no problem but when I hit the throttle it chugged back and forth also did it on warm up lever? Idled into dock loaded uo the boat and came hom 10 mins maybe. Put the muffs on it and fired it up in the yard and it was fine, revved up in gear and on warm uo lever? What might of caused this? water was pumping fine was a bit warm but not hot, engine block was pretty hot but not screaming hot? Any ideas?
