Just purchased a 2003 19' Cobia powered with a 2003 F115TXRB with only 115 hrs. Today I replaced all of the fuel lines including the water/fuel separator and primer bulb (arrow facing motor). After 10 minutes of pumping the bulb I was unable to fill the fuel lines so I filled both the separator and engine fuel filter with gas to prime the lines with no success. The engine ran for a few minutes with the gas that was available from the priming attempt. What else can be done or checked to allow fuel to fill the separator and lines?

When you say that all fuel lines were replaced are we talking about all the way back to the fuel tank outlet?

A primer ball pumps fuel much better than it sucks fuel. Install the primer ball between the tank and the boat mounted water separating fuel filter. Hold the primer ball vertically with the outlet on top. Pressing and releasing the ball should pull fuel from the tank and then push that fuel through the boat mounted filter and then all the way to the VST on the motor.

If the primer ball still is not filling with fuel then remove the fuel hose at the boat tank. Stick the end of the hose into a small portable fuel tank. Use the primer ball. If it now works then you have a problem with the boat tank. If it does not work I would say that you have another bad primer ball.

Thanks you for the information - I will relocate the bulb before the separator tomorrow and will post results.

Before I started to relocate the bulb and filter I decided to change the fuel sender sender gasket as it looked in rough shape. . The bolt located on the leftfuel sender.jpg of the pic will turn but will not come out. Any ideas on how to remove this bolt thats in a tight area and am limited on what tools I can use?

Well I relocated the separator and bulb with success but when I was replacing the fuel sender gasket with a stripped bolt I encountered another issue. I had to drill off the the stripped bolts head losing the bolt shaft and screw sleeve in the tank. I attempted to retrieve the pieces with a magnetic extension but realized after a few minutes that magnets will not work on stainless steel. Will this cause future problems? Any ideas how to retrieve the metal pieces from the tank?

Thanks for the advice boscoe99
