Must tap on lift pump to get it working,i figure thats bad, did vacuum test on it and is 4.5 inches after tapping on it of course, but when trying to full throttle will die or just bog down. can ease up on the trottle and will increase rpms all the to 4000 and cruise good, but hit wave or any load on engine will bog down.fuel pressure at injectors is 40lbs. can the high pressure pump be bad to or can the lift pump cause this to.

If you are pulling 4.5 inches of vacuum (assume this is between tank and engine) then you have something plugged up. Either the pickup tube in the tank, a hose pinched or something. You shouldn't see more than 1.5" of vac.

Re: 2003 F225 no start

Well hooked up engine to portable tank and still had problem, did a fuel pressure test at the shradder valve on fuel rail, pressure was around 40 psi at idle, acc. pressure goes down to 28 psi and and engine runs rough and stalls out. possible primary fuel pump???
help please.

Did you still have high vacuum also?

Sounds like you have some plugging in the filters/screens

Actually with a healthy fuel system, quality anti-siphon valve, clean fuel-water separator on a large boat, the fuel vacuum will be in the 2.5 to 3" Hg range at high speeds.

Just found the problem, stopped up vst filter, i mean so little you could barely see anything. Replaced vst filter last year. had only burned a couple hundred gallons of fuel. Cause is possible deteriation of the lift pump by ethenol fuel.

same thing happened after 3 fishing trips, cleaned vst filter was stopped up again, this time found the gray fuel lines deteriating, changed all fuel hoses on engine, hopefully will take care of problem.

Re: 2003 F225 no start

it is august now, after cleaning out vst and replacing engine fuel hoses, engine would only do 4300 rpm's at full throttle, run seafoam in 2 gallons of gas through engine, rpm's increased to
5000. removed injectors and sent them to get o'hauled, now engine runs better than its ever run, 6000 rpm's at full throttle, leaps out of the hole, top speed 52 mph.
