2003 F90 carbs -fuel injectors

Rod / JB<br /><br />Been reading many many posts about bad fuel causing najor expensive problems with carbs / injectors.<br /><br />I definatley want to avoid this expensive mess.<br /><br />What should we 4 stroke owners be doing as preventative maintence ?<br /><br />I use my engine pretty frequently. Even in winter I try to run it every 3 to 4 weeks.<br /><br />If its going to sit for a while I will throw in some stabill.<br /><br />I'll run a little ring free in it from time to time also.<br /><br />Is there any carb /injector cleaner that is safe to run in these engines as preventative maint ?<br /><br />Besides changing the oil i think preventing clogged carbs /jets is next on the list.<br /><br />I think my 2003 doesnot have jets but 4 carbs ?<br /><br /><br />Kid

your 03 is carbed. keep fresh fuel, run it often under load, use a ten micron fuel water seperator in the hull system. would rather see fuel and cooling system maint before oil changes.

Rod,<br /><br />ten micron fuel water seperator in the hull system<br /><br />The boat is a 2003 triton. Would this already be in the boat or do i need to add this as an aftermarket part ? <br /><br />I'm assuming if I have one it would be in the fuel taank area in the fuel line ?<br /><br />The fuel filter in the engine still has the red on the very bottom. KK,<br /><br />Almost all modern manufacturers fit fuel/water separating filters in their boats as standard. The F/W separator should be attached on the cockpit side of the transom - if not it'll be somewhere along the fuel line. Look inside the transom area opposite to the sterring/fuel line/ electric exit point. If it's not thee look under the floor on the stern side of the fuel tank. It'll be a screw fit type filter that looks like a large spin on oil filter. I change mine every 100 hours as its cheap insurance (average about 150 hours a year). <br /><br />Mark.
