I recently purchased a 14' StarCraft Aluminum deep-V with a 2003 Mercury 9.9 2-stroke on it. I've had it out twice so far and runs good overall. It starts fine, idles fine, and runs wide open just fine, but if i'm running half throttle and then reduce throttle a little bit, it will "sneeze" for just a brief second and then keep on running fine. It doesn't stall but will do it consistentlly. It's supposedly a real low hour motor (it looks it), and may have done a lot of sitting. I put new plugs in and am running fresh fuel. I'm assuming a carb issue? If so, can i correct it so it doesn't keep doing this?
