I have a 2003 19ft Larson with a Volvo Engine. Last time out the RPM's would run up to 4000 but the boat was not moving very fast. Normally I get about 25 MPH at 3000 RPM. The other day I couldn't get above 10 MPH at 4000 RPM. What should I look at as a potential problem?

Had the same problem... on the back of your tach there should be an adjustment screw for 4/6/8 cylinder engines. Turn it with a small slot screwdriver back and forth several times. This will clean the contacts and should solve your problem.

Re: 2003 SEI 19ft Speed Problem

We have a 2003 Larsen Cabrio 257 that was performing great until last week. While cruising along at around 15mph we suddenlly felt a slight vibration. Now the boat will not go faster than 10mph. Before it would easily go 35 to 40 mph. We have cleaned the air filter and have check the props and everythiing seems normal. We can start it and everything goes well at low speeds but we just cannot get it up to speed. Should we change the fuel pump or have the carborator cleaned. It is a volvo penta outdrive , the higher end motor that went in the boat of this year. Is it possible that tweaking the tach could fix this before I have the mechanics get into it,

Thanks
