2003 Trophy 2302 WA listing to port

I just bought an interest in my business partner's boat (trailer
stored, low hours, very well maintained, fully loaded, hard
top, 225hp merc outboard). I have noticed after a few uses
that the boat consistently lists to port regardless of load. I
know at a 20 degree V the boat should tip from side to side at
rest but it seems that it only really leans to port and I can
barely get it over on the starboard side. On plane the boat
seems level and i can trim it as needed but i'm only running in
the ocean so it's hard to tell. any thoughts or is this a design
to compensate for the bait tank when full or something else?

Thanks.

Very common on the Trophy. If you install trim tabs (Bennett or Lenco), and lower just the left trim tab, this will cure your issue completely. Smart tabs will not work because you cannot adjust each trim tab independently.

hey,
i just posted a similar issue with my 2052. my issue is at plane and i need to add some trim to level her out. i thought that one of the tabs was not retracting fully and was going to pull her to check. so this is common on the 2052 as well?

It's prop turque. I have a 2004 2302, smae thing use your trim tab down a little on the port side.

Catalanc, your post said your boat was listing to starboard, so you would lower the starboard trim tab.

Which ever side your listing (leaning down) to, or on, you'll need to bring that side down lower than the other side. That will bring the side up, do it slowly and short bursts, it takes a second to respond.

check to see if you have a freshwater holding tank that might be empty on the starboard side

Yeah i can trim the boat just fine on plane with the tabs. Was just curious about sitting still in the dock or motoring around the harbor especially when you have two guests sitting on port. Would seem that they should have designed the load to sit more neutral at rest without such a propensity to list to port. Boat is empty except for full tank of fuel; fresh water tank is full and holding tank empty.

Thanks.

Let me ask you this! When at rest, with no one in the boat does the boat sit level? and if 2 people sit on the starboard side does it list as bad as to the port side?

With no one in the boat it visibly leans to port (most people probably wouldn't notice but I can see it) and you can gauge it by the water line green stripe. If I (175lbs) sit on the starboard gunnel it is basically level and a second person definitely get's it level.

If I sit on the port gunnel it goes a couple inches over to port.

I don't believe the boat should be listing to any side when at rest unless there is some thing holding weight. check the boat out for water in any holding tanks, fish lockers, baitwell, dry storage or in the bildge. you've got water or something, some where, IMO. I know mine sits level, however I don't use my fresh water tank and my head holding tank is always empty. When there are peps on my boat at rest, the more weight on one side will list...it's a V bottom, not a flat bottom boat so that is common
