Took my Yamaha F225 4 stroke to a Yamaha dealer to troubleshoot/repair sluggish, wot 4800 max, hard getting out of the hole. Pretty sure wot should be 55-6000. They ran fuel pressure test, checked spark and compression, fuel is okay. They found fuel in the oil say they are pretty sure bypassing through the injectors. Recommend injector cleaning $475 in addition to the $275 so far in tests. Is this a reasonable cost?

Re: 2003 Yamaha F225 clogged injectors

I just went through a gas issue with my Yamaha 200 4 stroke. Part of the purge and cleaning process was to pull the injectors and have them shipped to a place in Florida called Flag Ship Marena. The charge was $50 per X 6 injectors = $300 plus $ 40 freight. This was one of the places suggested by Yamaha .. they came back with flow meter reading before and after -- good luck ..

I don't know, they didn't specify this when they told me the tests they did run. I appreciate the info. I'm guessing if it is a VST problem, this would eliminate the need to deal with the injecters or possibly necessary to do both?

Fuel in the oil would indicate a rich condition. You would likely have other problems besides not getting high rpm. If the injectors are clogged it's likely the filters before the injectors are also in need or replacement. Start with the basics.
