Did a compression check on y V/Max the other day.
PSI seemed low (87-94).

Is that normal? My plugs seem to be a bit oily also. Should I run it in to the service dept before my warranty expires? Or is this O.K.

Thanks in advance...

Mark

sounds about right, when was the last time your tester was calibrated at a met/cal facility and has it been dropped or subjected to shock since the last calibration ?

Thanks Rodbolt! Just seemd a bit low. And I know...I know...Compression tester was brand new...right outta the NAPA Store. Which doesn't mean a thing, right?

How 'bout the oily plugs? The manual says they should be tan colored. They're kinda "goopy" lookin'.

Thanks for all you do here..your input is invaluable.

Mark

beats me, it may be normal and it may be not, I cant see them.
you can check the spark plug caps.
most of the 3.1 motors we had to modify the oil link rod. check that as well, make sure you understand the difference between throttles at idle and throttles fully closed.

That IS low. Should about 100-110. Run some Yamaha Ring-Free through it and see what happens. This stuff is GOOD! GOTTA KEEP THAT CARBON BUILD-UP TO A MINIMUM..if possible!!!!

okie3
were did ya find the specs for a 3.1 Vmax 200 hp yamaha ?
and what are you doing to insure compression tester accuracy? the US Military, and some others has a met/cal program. however it expires and must be recertified periodically.
