Hi I have a 2004 60 hp on my 38 ft houseboat. We usually troll at low rpm all day
and I have never had a battery problem until now. It seems that my batteries (i have 2 hooked up) are not charging. I have checked all the wires and everything seems to be tight.

Any idea what it could be? Is running 2 batteries a problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You don't mention how the batteries are connected. While running at 1500 rpm or more, put a voltmeter on the batteries and check voltage. Anything more than 13 volts indicates the batteries are charging. If you have them connected in parallel with no switch, or with a switch that is regularly left in the BOTH setting, you may have one bad battery that is sucking the life out of the other one. Have both load tested at any auto parts store.

Batteries are perfect and it is still draining. Is it the rectifier? Or what else should I trouble shoot?

Look at ServiceBulletin 2005-11B.

There is a recall for some models. The voltage regulator en exhaust cover will be replaced.

In the netherlands it will be replaced without costs for the owner till september 2008!

I have the same problem with my voltage regulator on my 2003 60hp EFI. But I am still waiting for the kit, it isn't in stock.
