2004 90hp 4 stroke purchase

I'm looking at a used 4 stroke at a dealer. Don't know much about the Johnson 4 strokes except they where made by Suzuki. It comes with controls and gauges. 2900.00 What should I be looking out for? What are the red flags? I plan on hanging this on my 1971 18ft Starcraft Startrek V when I get her seaworthy.

Also if I do get this I was going to try and negotiate a prop into the deal. What prop would I want as a starter on my boat? I know you have to test out props to get what you want but what do I start with?

That seems like a pretty good deal with controls and gauges. For reference, I bought my 2005 90hp Johnson carb'd 2-stroke in 2007 for $3k...no controls but it did have the tach with it.

As far as the prop, I would think that whatever it came with originally would be the most logical place to start.

Any way you can find out how many hours are on the motor? Used in salt or fresh water over its life?

Never mind found a 2004 Johnson brochure and it weighs over 400# don't think I will be hanging that on the back of the Startcraft
