Hello,

I am helping a friend change the lower unit oil in a 2004 Johnson 60hp Four Stroke. What type of lower unit oil does this motor need? I have several older model 2 stroke evinrudes and I usually use 80-90W gear oil. Should I use the same thing in this Johnson? Thanks.

I just switch to Amsoil Synthetic Marine gear oil from Evinrude gear oil...I was told it works pretty good, I use Amsoil for my motorcycle and it?s been great ?

I use BRP Ultra-HPF in mine. Cheapest thing you can buy for any motor is good fuel and good oil.
