Ok I'm making a new thread since my last title was a bit misleading. So I did get the motor yesterday and we fired it up as soon as it got on the transom. The first half hour it ran flawlessly, except for the darn cavitation that wouldn't stop. That happened all day. We slowly drove to an open are and it died three times. It just bogged down and died. I paddled to a dock, and sat for a few minutes then it started up and ran back to the marina. Then we went for a slow ride and came back and as I passed our bigger boat to turn around, it died again... so the 20 mph wind fought me as I paddled into the spot. Again it started right up and got we drove to a bait shop. Finally we were under a bridge and it started bogging down AGAIN, but I just kept it alive and slowly drove back to the slip. That time I tried squeezing the primer bulb and I think it may have worked, I was pulling into the slip. It also likes to quit peeing whenever it wants. Steam or smoke comes out. That only happened once yesterday. But I let it sit as usual and when I fired it back up it started peeing again. Today I ran it in a trash can and it ran flawlessly except for not peeing. Any ideas? The cavitation was the only real problem. Couldn't get on plane for 5 seconds all day.

Start by dropping the lower unit and checking the water pump to get the tell-tale to squirt water properly.
It might be your stalling problem was the engine overheating.
Get the pump fixed and give it another try.

It's finished. It will probably come off the first time I use it but it was worth a shot. And I can't figure out where the bolts to get to the pump are. Pretty sure it's this one and I REALLY can't get it off. It's making me so mad.

I'd also like to clean the carb. Don't wanna mess anything up so what links do you guys have? How do I check if the fuel pump works?
