Revving on a hose and " in gear " means nothing as technically the thing is still in nuetral.---That prop does no work moving air !----When pressing the key in fuel is sprayed into the engine.---This fuel bypasses the carburetors.---Therefor that points directly to carburetor problems !!!!------Have you checked the carburetor bowls to see if they are warped ?
