I have a 23 ft WA with a small cabin that has a heavy gas smell. I have replaced all hoses with no difference in the gas smell. If you take the cowl off the engine the gas smell is very strong. The motor is a 2004 Mercury 150 HP Saltwater and runs perfectly. I checked around the carbs and inside and it is dry. My thinking is the gas smell in the cowl is migrating to the inside of the boat thru the rigging tube. The boat is parked with the engine straight up and down. Has anyone had this problem or have a solution. Thanks

You said you changed the hoses. Did you change the fuel lines back to the fuel tank?

Did you change the fill hose?

Your situations sounds similar to when my fill hose failed

I changed all hoses including the fuel fill and vent. Also from tank to engine.

I had customers skiff do same thing as tank in nose. Had pin holes and weeping fuel into bilge area.

My bilge is dry. I left the cover off last night and the gas smell dissipated considerably. Perhaps I am causing the issue with the cover blocking the fuel vent.
