Hi there

I have a 75hp 4 stroke from april 2004 (salkt water). It wasn't used for almost 2 years and serviced before used this summer.
Now the engine starts fine however if there is any slight change in the angle of the boat (If i move from front to back, or if i adjust the trim by even 2 degrees) the engine splutters and dies. It sounds lie it is being starved of fuel.

If i persist and get the boat up on a plane - after a few efforts - the engine will run at full speed but splutters and drops revs occasionally.

I took out the plugs and they look a bit fouled. I drained and washed out the carbs with petrol and sprayed in some quick start and wd40 to see if they would loosen things out, but no improvement. I was using fresh fuel and tried running of a separate tank with the same result.

Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this or has anyone experienced the same?

Thanks

Is it possible the float is set incorrectly on one of the carbs? If the fuel level is too low in the bowl, it will slosh to one side and the jet will pull air.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. How do I access/adjust the floats? This has been mentioned to me previously but I could not figure out how to adjust the float without taking apart the whole carb mechanism. Do these floats have to be adjusted or tuned together?
Thanks again
