OK guys, I just picked up my new NX898 a month ago and have had it out three seperate days. The hole shot and the performance of the engine is seeming terrible. I have no hole shot and the boat takes forever to plane. I removed one of the black plastic pieces from the prop and that helped a bit but I am hoping that there is more that I can do. I have not bought any aditional options for the boat or the motor yet but I need a foil, skeg guard and prop guard. Please advise.

Because this is a new boat, the dealer you bought it from owes you the right prop to start with. Give us the WOT RPMs and pitch of the prop you are running and maybe we can tell you what prop you need. Is there an elevation difference from where you are to where you purchased the boat? Are you sure you are trimmed all the way down when trying to plane out?

By the way, welcome to the forums, and that sounds like an awsom eboat. Stick with us, and between all of use, we will have your boat flying in no time.

HI JrJ
I agree with Lube. Your dealer should be able t get you set up correctly. Those V6 Mercs can be moody when new. If it has been double oiled for breakin it may be causing it run weak. My 200 mariner was a dog until it was broken in. Your engine height could be to low and/or you may be spinning to large a prop. But again your dealer should be vested in your satifaction.
GOD Bless
LW
