I just installed trailer hitch on my van with two inch receiver. The hitch is quite low to ground. Any recommendations on the ball mount would be appreciated. The Rigid ball mount has a 2 inch drop. Can the ball mount simply be inverted so that it creates a rise? Thanks
Specs
Ball Hole Size 1 inch
Drop 2 inch
GTW 6,000 lbs
TW 600 lbs
Length 8 inch
Rise 3/4 inch
Shank Size 2 inch

Yes, Shane. You can invert the hitch to get a 2" rise. If that is not enough you can buy hitches with varying rise to get your trailer frame horizontal.

Welcome to iboats.

YES the receiver inserts come in many sizes and may be flipped if needed. You really need to have a ball hitch that will tow your boat level.

When you settle on the perfect hitch set up make sure the ball is absolutely tight and then tighten it again ;)

And then recheck it after a few pulls to the water. Mine came loose this year and the nut almost fell off! It had a lock washer, but now it has a lock washer and $5 worth of red loc-tite on it. :)

the sienna vans hitches ARE low !! but try this theory below and yes its ok to flip your ballmount upside down..

level your trailer in your driveway or on flat ground, get a tape measure and measure from ground to top of your coupler where the ball would sit.. 95% of trailers the measurement is 18-19" go to your local trailer shop with that measurement tell them u want your "Ball" hieght to be as close as to your measurement as possible, this is what we do at the trailer shop i work at without even seeing a customers trailer and works perfect, i personally add about 1/2"- 1"(depending on car, van, suv or truck) on to what the customer gives me for a measurement cuz your vehicle suspension WILL SETTLE a little bit.. hope this helps

Re: 2004 Toyota Sienna

I have a Reese adjustable height on my Sienna.

I have moved a ton of boats with it.

I've attached some pics.

I welded mine as a fixed height to eliminate any wobble and also shimmed the receiver.

I've got a ton of gear currently in my trunk and have sagged the springs probably an inch from some heavy tows.

From grade to top of my rear wheel well is 28 5/8", so you can compare it to yours.

Thanks for this information. You made my day. it looks like i will need to go with a 6 inch rise. From the ground to the top of my receiver is 10.5".

Again, thanks again its much appreciated.

Sounds good.

Just make certain you get one designed for a "rise" NOT a "drop".

They are two very different animals. Ensure proper weight rating.

If you'll be towing any significant weight, pump rear tires to cold psi max..It will cut down on sway.

Mine are 43psi Michelins and the added tire firmness makes a big difference(I do front as well).

If not factory supplied with a tranny cooler, you'll want one if significant weight/distance. U-haul is fine.
