Using a scope I initially seen water coming in under the bottom transom bracket but after taking it home and getting better access I believe the issue is the related to the exhaust. I’ll post a couple videos of what I see. I took the outdrive off and the exhaust manifold so I could get better access. The video is with the boat at home and a water hose stuck inside the exhaust bellow on the outside.

This is not my first boat rodeo but it is my first with a Volvo Penta. None of the links I have found work for the service manuals and I have also tried the VP website. Does anyone have an adult link they can share or email me?

This video is the first video I took with the boat in the lake. You can see it looks like it’s coming from behind the transom plate but after some research I am pretty sure that is a v-bracket and with the second video post above, I’m pretty confident it’s coming from the exhaust.

We don't post links to manuals due to possible copy wright issues
You can find some at manualslib

You can find parts breakdown HERE

Your manual is available from the Volvo Penta site. You may need your serial numbers

I found the manuals I needed. Wish I was more confident that the leak was coming from the exhaust pipe before pulling the motor.

I am normally a 1 man band, when it comes to this kind of thing, that’s ok, if I really need help my wife will come out and help when I ask her but I tell you what, the many trips up and down out of the boat to the tractor and back and forth, don’t seem to be as easy as they were a few years ago. Haha

Is there anything that I should do to this while it’s out like a “stupid if you don’t do it while the motors out” kind of thing?

Don't of any I would say that to, but look close at the plugs and wires. Check contacts on the starter to see if they are real clean. Being a Holly carb it would be real easy now to remove the bowl and see if there is any crud in it

Starter itself, unless you have easy access to it when the engine is installed
check oil pan for rust, dipstick tube fitting for leaks
P/S oil cooler and lines that are on the back of the engine
bilge pump if under the engine as some are
how's your oil filter access? If not good, maybe add a remote filter mount
