Has anybody experienced paint blistering and peeling under the water line? Crestliner says it is due to electrolysis and is not covered under warranty. It looks more like poor surface prep prior to painting as some areas are bare metal, others are corroded. The problem areas are mainly around the transom edges and welds but some blistering was observed on the hull near the bow. I purchased the boat in June 2005.

My 1996 is still in good shape with no blistering. There are self inflicted scratches but nothing like what you're talking about. If they feel it's electrictrolisis, what do they say it's caused from. Do you have shore power? Do you have the proper anode composition, ie magnesium, zinc, etc for your salt/fresh water.

There is no shore power. They measured (??) for stray current and found nothing, reworked the factory grounds, and repainted the boat (this spring 2007) they say at the Crestliner factory, and I was told it will be as good as new. I pulled the boat from the water this weekend (Sept 16th) and found the blistering was back, in some ways worst than before. They informed me that 2 other boats manufactured around the same time, one from Elliot Lake and the other from Quebec have had similar problems.

If anyone is aware of these boats, and knows the owners, I would like to discuss my concerns with them.
