2005 30 Hp Starting Problem

Hello,
Here Goes, I Have A 30 Hp 2005 4 Stroke Merc. It Runs Fine But When You First Turn The Key The Starter Engages But Wont Spin The Motor As If The Battery Is Dead. After The First Try Or Two It Turns Over Good And Runs Fine. I Put A New 1000 Amp Battery So Its Not It. I Also Replaced The Starter And The Relay And Still The Same.

Hi, Tim.

You have a bad cable or connection in your starter circuit. It will probably cost you nothing to fix it.

Go to the Engine FAQs and do the starter circuit troubleshooting. The most common trouble is where the ground cable from the battery is bolted to the engine block. Tight is not good enough, take it off and clean it.

JB, Thanks a million it worked. It was the positive connection at the starter end. Did them all. It still works a bit hard but turns it over on first turn of the key now. I also just posted an odd 15 hp problem you may know! tim
