2005 9.9 mercury 4 stroke outboard

looking for pro's and con's about this motor. Motor will be used as a kicker on a 26 ft sailboat. Appreciate any feedback, thanks<br /><br /><br />Gary

Hi Gary,<br />9.9 HP is plenty big for your sailboat; an 8HP would do the job. If you use the motor mostly for leaving and entering the harbor,as I do; an 8 HP 2 stroke would be a better choice. The 4 stroke gets much better mileage, but it is heavier and vibrates more.<br />But if you plan on many long trips, without wind;<br />the 4 stroke 9.9 HP would be a good choice.

Is it a 9.9 or a 9.8 hp?

I would look into the Tohatsu. It's the same <br /> as the Merc but less $$$.
