2005 Mercury 115 2 stroke

I have searched the web looking for an answer. Im trying to find out if a 05 115 has a rev limiter in the ignition? Im trying to get it propped correctly.

Whether or not it has a rev limiter has no bearing on selecting a prop. The engine manufacturer recommends a specific wide open throttle rpm band (probably 5500 or so for your engine). Rev limiters (if there is one) is usually set somewhat higher than that since you wouldn't want it cutting the ignition every time the engine reached the WOT rpm. What you do need is a tach. Load the boat the way you normally do most of the time and make some WOT runs noting the max rpm. If it's higher than recommended you need more pitch. If it's lower than recommended you need less pitch. Of course all of this assumes the engine is healthy and in a good state of tune.

The tach shows 5600 with a 17pitch Stiletto. Max Engine Rpm's are 5250 on the tag. The engine started cutting out is why im asking. I have a 21 pitch prop on the way. I have owned several outboards that were 5500 rpm engines, I assumed the Mercury was 5500 also.
