If you're talking about the center section of the forward v-berth (the dinette), it usually just sits on a pole that fits into a socket in the cabin sole and in the bottom of the table. Remove the pole and the dinette table lays down to fill in the void in the berth. You should have a cushion piece that lays (or snaps onto) the dinette top, and you're done.

Some dinettes also use a table with a pedestal where you loosen the pedestal at the base, push down on the table so that it is flush with the base of the cushions. This becomes your "filler" board, then you put the remaining filler cushion on top of the table.

You have all these pieces, right?
