2005 Suzuki DF 70 prop issue

2005 Suzuki DF70
4 Stroke, 50 hrs.

The over rev light started coming on at WOT (5000 RPM) after a few minutes and powers the motor down unless I keep the boat at 4500 RPM or lower. RPM WOT spec is 5200-5800. Boat max is still 5000 RPM and now rev limit light issue. Former owner said RPM maxed at 5400 for him which is just right. I live & boat in an area that gets low tides so my prop does take a beating.

Could my rev light issue be prop related?
What was limiting my RPM before the rev light issue?

You are double posting which is frowned on. We will not chase you around the forum. There are answers to your post in your original thread. But again -- NO -- the prop is not the issue. The ECU on your engine triggers the rev limiter -- not the tach and not the prop.
