I have a 2005 Glastron with a Volvo Penta 3.0L engine with power steering. The power steering worked fine and was very easy to turn (e.g., could use a single finger or hand on plane with no issue). Last weekend, the power steering actuator seal failed and I lost significant power steering fluid. I removed the actuator, replaced the rod and wiper seals, and the o-ring on the "plunger", and re-installed the actuator. After bleeding the system by turning to both lock positions, I went for a test drive. I noticed that turning in one direction seemed harder than the other direction, and overall the steering was "stiffer" than before the failed seals.
Any suggestions? I'm assuming my steering cable is fine since it worked seamlessly before the actuator seal failed. Is there an adjustment that I may be missing? The actuator seems to pivot on the mounting bracket when I move from one lock to the other.
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Matt
