A customer brought me his boat after it was sitting in a barn for 2 years. 2006 Mercury 4 stroke EFI
I drained all the gas from the fuel tank and the VST, motor was infested with more mud dauber nests than I have ever seen, cleaned all of them out. (as good as I could)
Brand new batteries, spark plugs, engine oil and filter, water pump kit and gear lube. Engine fires, but doesn't start and at first I suspected fuel pump problems. Checked engine fuel pressure. Right where it needs to be, am at 41-44 psi with key on.
I removed fuel injectors and cleaned them, (just by hand and with light air pressure) reinstalled. (Same issue.)
Hooked up to laptop and has no codes
Checked spark, have good spark. Finally suspected a flooding issue when it started smelling rich. Disconnected high pressure fuel pump electrical connector and it started and ran great until it ran out of fuel pressure. Reconnected and same old problem. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, as any help would be greatly appreciated! I am at my wits end. (note) It doesn't take much LOL
