Last used in march and ran good. Sept fishing season started so I went
out about two miles but engine lacked power. Went bach to dock and
gas smelled not so good, so changed it for fresh, replaced the three spark plugs after compression check (all good) checked oil. Mixed some cleaner in
a small container with fresh and let idle a while. Took her back out on lake
but had same no top end power 500' out. Engine has about 20 hours.
I don't want to run it if its not running good. I had also drained the fuel
pump screw and the separator/filter was clean, but washed that anyway.
I don't know why they don't provide manuals when they sell you an engine,
thats a PITA, now that something is wrong. This engine starts, runs good
on low rpm, but no power. Last year in a storm, lots of waves crashed on motor in saltwater. Thats only history. It feels like in limp mode, or about
2800 rpm bog. Is this a "safe mode" condition that has to be cleared with a scanner?
