We recently purchased a 2006 tracker pro 190 and have an issue with both pedestal posts cutting and going through the boat cover. When we were at Bass Pro the other day, they said that they should be removable, however we have not been able to budge either one of them. I thought we should probably check and make sure that 2006 models did this also! Can anyone out here confirm this for us? Sure don't want to tear up the flooring trying to remove something that was not meant to come out!!! thanks for your help! dottie

The seat and post should be removable. It sounds like you're removing the actual seat from the post, but the posts are not coming out, is that correct?

If this is the case, those pedestal female and male ends can and do develope rust. Gently spray some lubricant in the area where the post meets the base. Twist the post while spraying, careful not to get any on your carpet. Let sit overnight and repeat. Eventually you'll be able to pull the post out of the base. Clean the male and female ends with a steel brush and oil.

Thanks Bob. Yes, you have described the problem we are having. Both seats come out of the top end of the post, but the post won't come out from the pedestal end (boat end). It is so firmly attached that we were afraid that we would mess up the attachment of the pedestal to the boat itself! We'll try your suggestion and keep working at it. Thanks for your reply! dottie

Also, some of the Springfield pedestals have a plastic locking device on the post which keeps the post locked into the base. Twisting and gently swaying of the post will help unlock it.
