Just purchased this Pontoon boat which has very few hours but has set up for 3-4 years, due to illness of owner. I removed the old gas, changed fuel filters and air filter. The old air filter foam was oil saturated and fell apart. The engine cranked fine and I ran it on a water hose for several minutes. It seemed to idle and run fine, but the overheat horn sounded and the water pressure was very low. I changed the water pump and seals and with the cowling off I again noticed the new air filter was oil saturated and some oil was on the outside above the foot. Anybody have experience on this issue.
2nd question Was this powerhead made by Yamaha? Serial Number 1B423687

Thanks in advance

Not 100% sure but when I spoke to Mercury customer service today (for a different problem) from my understanding from 2005 and older are non EFI motors and Yammy made the powerhead. In 2006 they switched over to making their own, so I'd say the powerhead is made by Merc.

Being that the unit set for extended time you should do a decarbon to the cyclenders and a compression check on it. Oil comming back thru the air filter is a sgin that the motor has blowby past the rings or other troubles. JMO
