Re: 2007 90 TLR hard to start

Boat and motor are currently in the shop. Rodbolt1.0 has been spot on all the way. In the event that my dealer cannot correct the condition to my satisfaction, I have contacted a couple of 5 star rated shops and all said that they would honor the warranty. Closest Master Tech is over 100 miles away

Note: There is conjecture on proper starting technique for prime start motors. All of this is from service departments at Yamaha dealers in the area. Some are telling me "don't do anthing, just turn the key" and others are telling me "start it just like the old ones, push in on the key after turning to the start position and hold it in until the motor is running" and I have also been told "hold the key in for a second and continue to push in and rotate the key to the start position and hold in until it starts". My owners manual doesn't say anything about cold starts.

More to come...

Re: 2007 90 TLR hard to start

like I say, some are simply clueless.
to start ANY Yamaha prime start its simply a matter of turning the key.
no throttle,no choke simply turn the key.
it either starts or its broke.
if its broke fix it :)
5 star is simply a Video course, while its ok it took me almost 20 min to complete my 5 star certification, the master tech cert was a bit harder and longer.

Re: 2007 90 TLR hard to start

Got a call from my Dealer, the boat was ready. I arrived to pick the boat up and the owner of the Dealership met me and asked me to take the boat to a nearby launch. We put the boat in the water and he got in the boat with me and said "turn the key to the on position for a couple of seconds and turn it to the start position for 1 second." I did it and the motor rotated but didn't start. He told me to bump the starter again and it started immediately. Total time to start - about 6 seconds. The owner said that the engine did require a minor adjustment and said that he was sorry that I was experiencing problems.

Thank you to all who contributed. I am very grateful for your time and energy.

I feel better.:)
