2007 GLASTRON GT205 BILGE PUMP QUESTION

I'm getting ready to buy the GT205 runabout. All water drainage goes into the bilge and is automatically pumped out. Being an old sailor I'm used to open drains out of the cockpit or scuppers. Is a Bilge Pump only a liability especially if left in the water? I am getting double batteries and a cover. What about sand and mud that goes into the bilge?
Any advice or experiences appreciated.

Re: 2007 GLASTRON GT205 BILGE PUMP QUESTION

Welcome to iboats rshooter!!
I would want a bilge just for the safety factor to get the water out if needed,

As for the sand/mud, I don't see it getting in there.

You may want to re-post this in the Boat topics and Questions forum to get more input. Not many people come to this section.

Thank you....yes I understand the importance of a Bilge. The concern is that there is no other route for water to drain out of the boat. I'm used to passive drains plus a Bilge. I guess it just takes getting used to.
