Welcome to the forum!!:):)
If you already have a prop on now it will be much easier for us to help you if you tell us how your current prop is performing. What rpm's do you reach at wide open throttle (WOT)? What is your top speed. What do you usually do with your boat, ie: water sports, high speed runs, etc? Finally, what is it about your current prop that you are trying to fix by buying a new prop?

current prop is a 13.25X17P reason for replacing it is cause it got dinged last night. A couple guys suggested going up to maybe a 19P but i know little about it. As for RPM now i run WOT in between the spec of 5000 - 6000 rpm. The boat is primarily used for fishing/trolling but in summer months is used for cruising as well as some tubing. Top speed is 37-38 GPS.

With one person in the boat you can actually hit 6000 RPM? Going to a higher pitch prop will increase your trolling speed and hurt your out of the hole performance. If you can hit 6K on the tach at WOT with a light load, sounds like you are propped correctly now for what you use the boat for.

Here is a good thread for you to read, my boat is similar to yours, just 1 foot shorter.
lots of good info on gear ratios, motor height, max rpm etc. Be sure to read the links within the mulitple posts. Good Luck.........Irv

Thats the info we needed. You need to go up in pitch shoot for 6,000 with one or two aboard.Or be very aware of your rpm.Higher pitch should give more top speed and maybe a little mileage edge probably not too noticeable.
(more speed with less throttle)You might consider the Hustler turning point prop.It is said to deliver stainless performance at aluminum prices.
You could probably get your prop repaired for a spare.

here is the info from tonights test's
two people in the boat both weighing about 150lbs each and a quarter tank of gas. The gas tank holds 132 L (35 U.S. gal.)

13.25X 17Pitch
Max Speed: 40mph
RPM: Rev Limiter Beeps around 6100-6200 rpm

13X19 Pitch
Max Speed: 43mph
RPM: 5700-5800 rpm

any suggestions now?

thanks in advance

I would say your ok with you alone you would be about 5,900 your not likely to get much closer than that.If you haven't fine tuned your setup you could try raising the motor a little at a time.If you have no venting problems your
probably too low.

Instead of the Hustler, use Turning Point's "Legacy" series. Same prop as the Hustler, but has the Merc hub technology!

What he means is, if your prop holds well in tight turns after you have trimmed up and you still get no ventilation(prop blow out) then your motor could quite possibly be too low?
Your cavitation plate should be at least level with the bottom of your boat when you are fully trimmed in(down) That is usually a good starting point. Raise your motor 1 hole at a time until you find your optimum setting. Good Luck..........Irv964

Re: 2007 Pricecraft 90hp 4 Stroke Mercury Prop?

finally got the time to get a Turning Point Legacy Prop and went out with the girlfriend to test it... 3/4 tank of fuel and 2 of us in the boat (approx 300lbs) here are the results

13 1/4 X 19 Pitch
Max Speed: 43mph
RPM: 6000 rpm

could i go more or is that my max?

I think that is pretty good myself, I assume my boat weighs a little less than yours and my test results were, with just over a 1/2 a tank (14-16 gals?) and by myself(190lbs) 44mph as per GPS so I think your doing great.
Your at your max rpm for that motor so imo that is it? If your looking for more speed you could try a 21 but I think your motor will only push about 5600 rpms so I am not sure if you would see any speed increase?
I was after a better holeshot and less blowout in the turns and that is what I got, the 2mph increase and my motor being able to reach it's max rpm were just bonuses to me! I am completely happy with my set-up now.......Irv964

Re: 2007 Pricecraft 90hp 4 Stroke Mercury Prop?

thanks Irv

this is my boats specs:

Princecraft Pro 174 SS
Approx. Weight: 585 kg (1289 lb.)
Gas Tank Built-in: 132 L (35 U.S. gal.)

I don't need the top end but was curious if a 21P would get me more top end.

i also have a 19P Black Max i would be interested in trading someone for a 17P as i wish to use it for trolling.

I think you got great results with your Turning Point prop, better than mine and I am completely happy too. I personally don't think running a 21 on yours will net you any more top speed but then again this prop stuff sometimes screws up all logic?
I am still a little curious on that Stiletto SS I was thinking of purchasing, would I see more speed, same RPM, better holeshot, even less cavitation? For the money, I will stick with my Turning Point just in case the Stiletto is no different or not as good but in your case and the cheap prices of Turning Point props, it may be worth a try?
My BlackMax is also a 19P, if it were a 17P I would give it to you, I hated it that much!
What dealer do you deal with in Bellville? I deal with Upper Canada Marine in Havelock and so far so good, they have treated me well........Irv964

thanks Irv again! its been a treat. I still may see if i can borrow a 21P just to get rid of my curiosity. I now sit with 2 19P props the black max as my spare.

as for who i deal with, i deal with Big Lake Boats in Cobourg, they have always been great with me. I would recommend them to anyone.
